Kalianna School is a specialist school situated in Bendigo North catering for students aged 5 to 18 years (Prep to Year 12). The school was established in 1963.
Students enrolled at our school travel across many shires to attend, including the Mt Alexander, Loddon and Greater Bendigo Shires.
The school’s curriculum is based on the Victorian Curriculum providing VET and VCAL programs for students in their later years.
Our school motto is to ‘Unite and Inspire’ and school values of ‘Creative, Inclusive and Positive’ provide the benchmark for all actions that take place in our school community.
Since the appointment of Peter Bush, Principal, in 2013, the vision of the school has been to ensure students, when leaving the school, are active and productive members of society and have a desire to continue learning. Since his appointment the school has become a regional resource for other schools and special needs providers in the wider Bendigo region. To achieve this, the school has undergone major restructure and delivery of its educational programs and has formed important partnerships with other organisations.
Our school motto is to ‘Unite and Inspire’ and the school values of ‘Creative, Inclusive and Positive’ provide the benchmark for all actions that take place in our school community.
Through these values, we aim to provide a welcoming community which values learning through shared responsibility and to develop a caring environment in which we nurture confident, creative and resilient individuals who aspire to be the best they can.
Kalianna School is a school where the social, emotional, educational and physical needs are of the utmost importance. It is a school that encourages respect for diversity, inability, as well as cultural, racial, ethnic and social backgrounds.
Our purpose is to inspire children to achieve their full potential by developing:
A culture of learning based on positive relationships between students, staff, parents and the wider community.
A core of knowledge of academic and social competencies based on the Victorian Curriculum and our key values of positive, creative and inclusive behaviours.
A challenging educational program differentiated and individualised appropriately for the needs of all students.
A positive, caring, stimulating and happy learning environment based on the principles of School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), which fosters high standards of achievement and behaviour.
The welfare of students, staff and parents is an underlying consideration of all decisions made at Kalianna. Our school believes that people are the most important resource and that everyone has something to offer.
