Pathways
At Kalianna, our Pathways program is designed to support students in their journey towards independence and success. We provide a range of academic, social, specialist and extra-curricular opportunities to ensure students develop the skills and confidence they need for life beyond school.
Our Pathways program is delivered across multiple learning environments. It operates both onsite at Kalianna and at our dedicated off-campus location on Mundy Street. This additional site has been secured to provide students with new and meaningful learning experiences, including greater access to in-town opportunities, community engagement, and real-life skill development.
Students in the Pathways program participate in a structured weekly timetable across three locations:
-
2 days at Kalianna, focusing on classroom learning
-
2 days at the Mundy Street campus, engaging in hands-on and community-based learning
-
1 day at TAFE, where students are enrolled in a range of vocational courses
Each student participates in the Pathways program for two years, building skills and confidence over time.
Our Pathways section is designed for students who have completed Year 10 and are aged between 15 and 18 years. During this time, students work towards completing their Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC), which prepares them for further education, training, or employment. The program focuses on developing literacy and numeracy, work-related skills, and personal and social capabilities.
Students engage in a variety of classes that support their individual learning goals, including:
-
Numeracy
-
Literacy
-
Personal Development

Community engagement is a key part of our Pathways program. Students are encouraged to participate in a range of local initiatives and experiences, helping them build connections, confidence, and important life skills.
Our program is highly practical and hands-on, with a strong focus on developing independence, workplace readiness, and social skills. Students are supported to build their capabilities through meaningful, real-world learning experiences.
The Pathways community also plays an active role within the school, contributing to the Student Representative Council and taking on leadership opportunities. We believe empowering students in this way helps build confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging.
At Kalianna, we are committed to helping every student develop the skills they need for independence, social participation, and a positive future. Our Pathways program provides a supportive and engaging environment where students can grow, achieve, and prepare for life beyond school.
