Eligibility and Criteria

KaliannaSchool welcomes enrolments for students who have an intellectual disability diagnosis and have a Full Scale IQ Test in the range of 50-69.

Prep enquiries open in June every year.  It is advised that you talk with your child’s kindergarten teacher before making enrolment enquiries to seek their opinion if there may be an actual intellectual disability and not another diagnosis e.g. autsim spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). You may also require evidence showing that you have been engaged with early intervention and other allied health services.

If students are transferring from the catholic education system they may be required to undergo a new cognitive assessment or other assessments before enrolment can be approved.

Students at Kalianna require a Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) application processed to secure funding for each student.

All students at Kalianna require a Year 6/7 review.  This is arranged through the school, where a new cognitive assessment is organised.  In special schools, this is done by age not the actual year level they are in.

All enrolment enquiries (except prep enrolments) are checked through the Department of Education’s Disability Coordinator to see if they require a new application to be processed or they are already in receipt of funding and meet eligibility.
