Values and Life Education
Here at Kalianna, Values and Life Education which is better known to our students as VaLE is a specialist subject that is taught across our whole school.
The program encompasses a range of important topics that are derived from the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships curriculum.
The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships learning materials have been designed for teachers in primary and secondary schools to develop students’ social, emotional and positive relationship skills. Efforts to promote social and emotional skills and positive gender norms in children and young people has been shown to improve health and wellbeing related outcomes. It also reduces antisocial behaviours including engagement in gender related violence.
The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) learning materials cover eight topics of Social and Emotional Learning across all levels of primary and secondary education these eight topics are: Emotional Literacy; Personal Strengths; Positive Coping; Problem Solving; Stress Management; Help Seeking; Gender and Identity; and Positive Gender Relationships.
Our year 9 - 10 students begin to focus on the rich curriculum of “Building Respectful Relationships - Stepping out against gender based violence”. This curriculum is taught to all students who are in years 9 -10 statewide. It’s main focuses are on, gender, violence and respectful relationships.
